Horizon Lanka hopes to achieve self sustainability. With the proposed plan for the year 2009, Horizon Lanka will look to find all the finances for its day to day expenses and admin costs within the village. Thus any additional donations, grants will be used for special projects with the consent of the donor, granter. Economy of Mahavilachchiya has improved remarkably during past few years and now most of the parents say they can afford their children’s’ education. There will be exceptions though. Public schools in the area still suffer due to lack of trained teachers for crucial subjects such as English, ICT, science and mathematics and Horizon Lanka has to fill that void.

2. Existing mesh Internet project in Mahavilachchiya is facing some problems due to some disturbances within the network. Horizon Lanka hopes to rectify those faults and expand the mesh network to the other side of the village by enabling more students to use Internet. A funding proposal written to find the necessary funding for this effect has been passed by now and we will rectify the problems in the mesh network and expand it to another 30 houses within next three months.
